Source: Revista ADM. Abstract: Mandibular fractures are the most common fractures of the facial bones, with mandibular condylar fractures occupying an important place among them.
Some of their etiological factors are traffic accidents, aggressions by third persons, sports, and work accidents. There is great controversy in the management of this entity, regarding the selection of a conservative or surgical treatment; several factors are considered reasons to carry out the surgical treatment, such as the loss of posterior facial height, the position of the fractured condylar, as well as the possibility of having the patient purchase the osteosynthesis material.

Surgical or Conservative Treatment for Mandibular Condyle Fractures
Conservative treatment of condyle fractures: Radiological and clinical evaluation. Abstract : Benefits of surgical treatment for condylar fractures are to date discussed controversially in the literature. As conservative treatment is the method of choice in our clinic, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of a randomised selected group of our patients who received conservative treatment for condylar fractures. The acts of 30 patients 18 males, 12 females, mean age of 25 years treatment for condylar fractures between and with a mean follow up time of 12 months have been assessed.
