It was an interesting and quick read being one of the older Savage Worlds settings. In fact it is one of the oldest two setting books, and in some ways it shows.

The first part of the book covers character creation for a standard fantasy setting. There are no surprises here, and a couple of setting specific edges for the one deity in the setting effectively making a paladin and a cleric. The rules make reference of skills that have been removed from the system Guts for more than a decade, and melee weapons add bonuses to the damage.

Even with all of that, there are some things that can be used from this book. First off the setting starts off as a normal fantasy setting, but the plot point campaign changes it shrouding the world in darkness. The only annoying thing is that in the plot point campaign one of the chapters is devoted to the players being captured and enslaved.

It is supposed to be for a short duration and it is supposed to be used to get important information to the players, but it is still an annoying that they choose to do it that way. Savage Worlds: Evernight

The world of Tarth was a bright and shining jewel. The Great Race Wars were long over, the people were free, and true evil had been scattered to the dark bowels of the earth. The King of Valusia sat upon his throne and ruled his peaceful valley and its honest citizens with a firm yet fair grip. Until they came. And the light went out forever. This page hardback book provides a complete scripted campaign, from before the arrival of the mysterious and terrifying Masters to the epic and bloody finish. Player characters start as Novices in a familiar fantasy world of elves, dwarves, orcs, and men.

Some Brief Impression of Evernight

Published by Pinnacle themselves in , Evernight is one of the earliest Savage Worlds settings. Two pages of historical background, presented as a tale of earlier heroes, told to the PCs by a minstrel. This is your standard setting background fare; a quick three page overview of the world of Tarth and the kingdom of Valusia, which your PCs call home, is followed by character creation — a one page refresher of the SW approach, then details of the races of Tarth the usual suspects — dwarves, elves, half-elves, Halflings, half-orcs, humans. There are notes on which Edges and Hindrances are not appropriate, and a few new Edges; the professional edges stand out as most interesting for me, allowing a PC to be a Red Knight paladin or Sun Priest cleric.
