In this tutorial, I will show you how to view website visitor statistics in cPanel using the AWStats program. All statistics programs work the same way. They parse read the web server log files and display the data in easy to read graphs and lists. Webalizer presents simple and limited stats charts. If there are multiple domains in your account, you will be prompted to choose the domain for which you would like to see stats.

That this was necessary seems a bit weird to me, because my reasoning was that if "Available to Users" is checked, and I enabled Awstats everywhere and gave the account all rights, why wouldn't it get statistics? I did already give the account the permissions, Awstats was enabled, the package used by the account had Awstats enabled in its feature list, etc.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what "Active by Default" means; does it not mean that it enables Awstats for all accounts? Bert de Jong said:. Hm, right. So, theoretically, I could have used the Metrics Editor for the account instead of "Active by Default".

How to enable AWStats in cPanel ?
However, doing this requires you to add a script to your site and configure it. In other words you need to manually install AWStats for your domain. Still SiteGround recommends to keep statistics for your domain names private and access them via cPanel. Note that the Update button in the AWStats software will not work if you access the tool outside of cPanel. This is because the application does not have sufficient permissions to write inside the system folders of the account, but can only read them.
